Music: The 1975

Ever since I first heard the song "Chocolate", I've been obsessed with the 1975! I heard that song in spring of 2013, so I was able to see the process of them coming out with EPs and finally an album later that year! Their first self-titled album is full of songs that seem to range in genre. Sometimes, they seem kind of rock, sometimes they seem kind of 80's pop, and sometimes they just seem to have created a genre all their own!
My favorite songs on the album include "Settle Down", "Menswear", "Me", and of course "Chocolate".  The band has created what they like to call "cinematic music", where you can almost get a picture in your head or feel like you are in a music video when you listen to it.

The band consists of four members, George Daniels, Ross MacDonald, Adam Hann, and Matty Healy. They met in high school and have been a band for ten years, having several other names before The 1975.

I have to include my love for Matty Healy in this post. He is one of the most attractive people I've ever met (yes, I did meet him!). He also has such an amazing mind, as you can tell from all of the interviews that he does. The has such an amazing image for the band. His hair definitely has personality all its own! If you see him in concert, it is obvious that he truly feels the music that he creates.

So why did the band choose the name the 1975? In a book of poetry, there was a date that ended with "the 1975", and the band liked it, so that's what they called themselves! They have sort of branded themselves with the use of black and white, a rectangle, and of course the name "The 1975".
This was definitely the best concert I've ever been to! I went in October 2013 to the smallest venue they had played in the US. There were only about 1,000 people there. I was in the center of the third row of people! I was so close and the music was so loud that you could almost feel like. The opener, Linus Young, was very impressive as well. Anyways, it was just so amazing that I have no words to describe it. Here is a picture of how close I was:

And after the concert, I was able to meet Matt Healy! He came out the venue only like 10 minutes after the show ended. It was raining and several of us were out there waiting for him, and he took the time to talk to all of us and make sure we all got pictures. It was amazing. I got a picture with him, of course in his infamous coat! (Excuse my ratchetness)
