Music: The Neighbourhood

By now, almost everyone has heard the song "Sweater Weather" by the Neighbourhood. I have been a fan of them for a while now. They first released the song "Female Robbery" without saying really who they were.  People really liked the song and wanted to know more, so they then released "Sweater Weather" and their fame skyrocketed. They are a band from California, however, not from England, as one would think because of the spelling of the word "Neighbourhood". Anyways, they have sort of an R&B/alternative feel that sets them apart as a band. They have created their first album "I Love You.":
My favorite songs of the Neighbourhood's are "Afraid", "Say My Name/Cry Me a River", "West Coast", and "Float".  The band is currently coming out with and album called "#000000 and #FFFFFF", which is the html code for black and white. I like the song "Silver" off of the album, and it is currently free on their soundcloud account! They really play on the whole black and white idea, which I will go into later. Also, sometimes the band is referred to as "the NBHD". I love the name of the fans--"hoodlums".

The band currently consists of the members Jesse Rutherford, Jeremy Freedman, Zach Abels, Mikey Margott, and Brandom Fried.

My two favorite band members are Jesse Rutherford and Zach Abels.
Jesse Rutherford
Jesse is the singer of the Neighbourhood. He has an amazing voice, with a sort of jazzy, R&B style to it. In the past, he was a rapper, which can be seen in some of the Neighbourhood's current songs "West Coast" and "No Grey". Anyways, Jesse has proceeded to get several more tattoos since the band's formation. He recently dyed half of his hair black and the other half white. While I do not find it aestetically pleasing, once I saw him in concert, I understood it more. He dyed his hair to match the colors on the stage, and it looks actually super cool. I loved seeing him in concert because you can tell how genuinely happy performing makes him.
Zach Abels
Zach is the super cool guitarist of the band. He is sooo cute! Anyways, he has a under-ratedly funny twitter that y'all should check out!

I have seen The Neighbourhood twice in concert. Once was at a music festival in September 2013, where they opened for Imagine Dragons and Cage the Elephant. The second time I saw them was in March of this year. They were truly amazing! The stage was half black and half white. There was lots of smoke and use of lighting. The performance was so amazing because they not only performed some of the songs off of their first EP, but also new songs off the upcoming album that had never been played before!  I loved the end of the concert when they played "Afraid". Everyone was singing about how afraid they were of being replaced and such and yet, everyone was so energetic. We were all bounded together by the meaning of the music and that produced an indescribable feeling in the venue. I hope that I can see them again because it was such an incredible experience!
